We've not really had friends over to our home for meals since our stay in Sweden. This Christmas, we decided it's time to get-a-cookin'! Planning the menu wasn't too hard; I whipped out something I had prepared before from my favourite Jamie Oliver's Happy Days with The Naked Chef! There was the Arugula salad with warm oyster mushrooms, and a Sweet and Sour pot-roasted chicken! Plus some foccacia we bought from an Italian diner... all's set before the invited guests arrived!
We were doing some grocery shopping at Dempsey for our Christmas Day dinner, when Dave decided to have meat this Christmas eve! Amazed at our own (and Tina's) spontaneity... the 3 of us had a pretty fun time at The Prime Society!
Instead of our weekly RC family Sunday dinner, Pa decided we should all go out (well... everyone else is away on vacation anyways). Loved the idea! What a nice change!
We touched down in Copenhagen very early in the morning. I remember vividly what I did when we stepped out of the airport... I inhaled. I've forgotten how fresh and crisp air can be, and my lungs can't seem to get enough of it. It's official; it's winter and I love it!
We're leaving for our mini winter vacation in about 8 hours time, and I'm having so much trouble packing. None of my tops seem to be long enough to cover my growing belly. And even if they do right now, I doubt it'll stay covered after a meal over there. Dave says I should bring as much stuff as I want to... including the boots, jackets, bags; he knows how much I'm missing the winter and its fashion! But alas... I can't even button up my pretty trench coat!
(3) don't eat food that causes gas for at least one day before you travel (pressure builds up as you ascend through the altitudes and could cause pain)
(4) walk the aisles to keep the circulation in the body
(5) stretch while sitting
(6) wear loose fitting clothing
(7) wear slip on shoes (your feet may swell)
(8) wear maternity support pantyhose or socks
(9) get an aisle seat or a front row seat for more leg room
(10) eat light foods
(11) eat small meals or snacks at frequent intervals
(12) do not eat salt
(13) place seat belt under abdomen
Dave did his half-marathon yesterday. The weather was perfect and he did better than expected... not more than 2hr 14min for 21km; we'll have to wait for the exact timing when the results get updated online. It was really such an accomplishment as he'd trained as much as he could amidst the busy work and travel schedule. I was his runspirator... but I must say I was the one being inspired when I saw the runners making it to the finishing line. All the sweat, pain, aches.... it was victorious. I hope I can do the run next year.
Went for my 6th month checkup yesterday.
There's a Hainanese restaurant at Blk95 Toa Payoh Lorong 4 Pa brought us to for lunch yesterday... called 'Hainan Kor' .... which translates to 'Hainan Brother'. Even though I had chicken rice the day before... I'm still really keen... being the pure breed hainanese that I am!
