counting down...

As I enter the 8th month of my pregnancy, I can't help but feel slightly anxious about labour pains. Am having some dreams about it too. Am I being silly about not wanting to opt for epidural? Will the whole experience be too traumatic? Will baby be too big to come out of me? Will I tear badly? STOP IT! Positive thoughts please!     


Went for my 32nd week scan on Monday. I was alittle neuro about this particular checkup cus of all the pineapple tarts I've been stuffing myself with. But... PHEW!.... my sugar levels were normal. I've gained 10kg since conception... and I've got less than 2 more months to go. I hope I don't get over my healthy weight gain (ie: 13kg) as baby fattens up! 

We saw baby's face quite clearly during the scan. Here's the lastest scan at almost 33 weeks, weighing 2.1kg!
Will be seeing Dr Tseng every 2 weeks now!!! :)

28 weeks and counting...

I'm officially in my 3rd and final trimester! Still can't believe how fast the past 6 months had gone by. My last prenatal checkup on Friday shows baby is 1kg at 28weeks! How nice to surpass the 'grams' into the 'kilos'! And according to website information, our little baby is no longer on the heavy side.... he's exactly how much an average baby should weigh at 28weeks;) I'm glad. Average is good. 


I've put on 8kg so far! And for the next 3 months, our baby will need to put on about 2kg!!! My girlfriend who's due almost the same time as me has been getting 4D scans every 3 weeks now... but our dear Dr Tseng was still asking us whether we're ok with just listening to his heartbeat last week!!! Sigh... again we insisted on having at least a scan to be done. And this was it.

Not much to be seen, really. Argh. But we're avoiding the more advanced scans cus Dr Tseng will just say it's not really necessary since the pregnancy is a normal one. I suppose we can keep the suspense for another 11 weeks or so!

the last of my 2nd trimester

Went for my 6th month checkup yesterday.


Although Dr Tseng never insists that ultrasounds are needed for every checkup... but one of the main reasons why we always look forward to the gynea visits is to be able to have a visual on the baby! So other than listening to the baby's heartbeats... this was the scan at 24 weeks. Baby is looking down; you can see the vertebrae on top.


Within 5 weeks, the baby has put on 446g!!! He's now 742g!!!  Doctor said he's at a normal weight, but according to BabyCentre, baby's weight at this stage should be 600g!!!

As I progress into the last 2 weeks of my 2nd trimester, I have to admit this pregnancy has been relatively easy so far. No morning sickness (yet!), no stretch marks (yet!), no water retention (yet!). Other than being sleepy pretty often, and having rashes on my stomach... it's been a bliss (fingers crossed). Oh! Come to think of it... I think I may be suffering a new symptom.... have been quite emotional lately. Just last night, I got all teary cus my MIL lost my toilet rug. Argh. Silly me.

Another girlfriend of mine will be delivering her baby coming Monday. Her doctor advised her to induce since her baby girl is almost 3.5kg!!! Happy delivery, Jorene!

what a discovery!

I'm officially half way there!!!! 20 weeks today.


Went for the 2nd trimester detailed scanning last Thursday. It was a really moving experience for us, plus the sonographer we had, Ms Etta Tee was so kind and patient, we actually felt she was enjoying the scan as much as us!!! While taking all the important measurements, she even demonstrated baby's movements to us so there was no confusion; baby's indeed the cutest thing in our lives right now!

And what is even more amazing is that our baby is actually 'big'! At 19 weeks 3 days, baby is weighing 296g, compared to the average of 250g, that's pretty super size to petite parents like us! Hah hah! Anyhow, all results place baby in the healthy and normal range. Yipeeee!

So... are you ready for the biggest news? 

Yes, it's a boy! We'll have to rethink of a name now.

4th month scan!

We went for the first 2nd trimester test with much anticipation last week.... partly because Dave totally missed the previous month's scan and we wanted a more detailed explanation on the Oscar results... but we mainly wanted to know baby's gender!!! :)


From my blood test and the detailed ultrascan, my Oscar results, based on my age concluded that our baby has very low risk of Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21) and other common chromosomal disorders (eg: Trisomy 13 or 18). Although we knew of the results last month from the nurse, it was always reassuring to hear it (again) from the doctor!

And we could not confirm the gender this time round... cus baby was playing with the umbilical cord between the legs!! hah hah!! so very cute.... and at one moment, I swear I saw baby sucking thumb and waving at us! Hello sweetheart!
